Poppies are a symbol of Remembrance, and as such are suitable for Anzac Day, Memorial Day or Remembrance Day.

They may be made in red, purple, black or white for these occasions, however red poppies are the most common.
Red - Flanders Poppy symbolises remembrance for the fallen
White - commitment to peace, and remembrance of casualties
Purple - Commemorate the animal victims of war: horses, dogs and pigeons
Black - A symbol of grief

You could also choose to create these in any colour you like, wear a poppy as a brooch, or create decorations for the home for any time of year.

Using very little yarn, they’re a fabulous way to use up your yarn scraps!

Experiment with various yarns and appropriate hook sizes for different sized Poppies, some suggestions are given in the PDF.

Remember, we’d love to see your creativity here on Ravelry as a project.
