Porthmeor
Porthmeor is a wide Moebius loop cowl featuring a repetitive pattern of oval forms in knit and purl stitches. It references the way the sculptor Barbara Hepworth explored forms in work inspired by her native Yorkshire and the landscape in and around her adopted town of St Ives. It can be worn as a generous loop scarf or around and over the shoulders like a shawl.
Although written for one size, additional instructions and information is provided to make sure you can knit the ideal length for your height and build.
The pattern is easily adapted into a straight wrap or scarf by omitting the provisional cast-on, twist and grafting, adding additional pattern rows to achieve required length and reducing the initial cast on by 30 sts for the scarf width.
Skills Required
Provisional cast-on (instructions provided), working a knit/purl stitch sequence from a chart or written instructions, grafting using Kitchener stitch.
