Festival design for
KNIT WITH FRIENDS 2024
June 22 and 23, Porto, Portugal

One of the great things about yarn festivals is that you get to meet like-minded people from all over the world.
Knitting brings people together, transcending borders and differences.

So, what could be more natural than to capture that spirit in my design for
Knit with Friends 2024?

The Porto connection pattern is reminiscent of the curved arches of the bridges over the River Douro in Porto, symbolizing the bridges that knitting builds.
And to even emphasize this connection, I chose yarns from several of the yarn artists represented at Knit with Friends 2024.

The PORTO CONNECTION shawl is worked flat (sideways), increasing along one edge to create a slightly asymmetrical triangle. Stitches are increased in pattern and then onward into the 1x1 ribbing. The slip stitch stripe design means that you only work with one color on any given row. The combination of easy slip stitch pattern stripes and the ribbing give this shawl a sophisticated yet casual look.
