PORTOFINO is a fishing village located on the Italian Riviera south-east of Genoa. The sweater of the same name spontaneously reminds of the beautiful bay of the small town, where the Italian way of life can still be found in its most original form.
Like its godfather, the summer sweater stands for lightness and an uncomplicated attitude to life.
PORTOFINO is a sloppy summer sweater, knitted with light-weight silk. It is knitted from top down with raglan increases and in one piece without seams. The back is worked discreetly longer with the help of shortened rows.
The pattern allows a variety of ways to combine the colours and give the jumper a completely different look.

The poppy blue version (Option I):

The bubbles will knit with two different contrast colors, which are swapped in each pattern repeat.

The striped version:

The bubbles are knitted in contrast color. But unlike the poppy blue version, only one contrasting colour is ever used within a repeat. This creates a striped effect and emphasises the bobbles.

The popcorn-version (Option II):

In this version the bubbles are knitted in main color and two rounds between bobbles with contrast color. Here you can use as many colours as you like.

As the bobbles are shown to their best advantage here, we recommend using a very light color for the main color. Otherwise, the contrasting stripes may not come into their own!
