Portsmouth, NH scarf
This scarf combines my favorite things about scarves and shawls: It’s warm and comfy, with an interesting shape and some fun-to-knit accents which give it a little more glamour than your average scarf. It’s named after Portsmouth, NH, a seacoast city with a funky aesthetic and some damn cold weather!
The difficulty is intermediate, and no experience with colorwork is needed. The two-color pattern in the cable section is achieved by slipping stitches -- meaning you only ever knit with one color of yarn at a time. If you’ve ever knit cables before, you’ll be able to make this!
The scarf measures 22” along the inner border, 68’’ along the outer border, and 8’’ wide. It uses 280 yards of the main color (1 skein of Traveller) and 210 yards of the contrast color (3/4 of a skein of Traveller).
This pattern is available in an e-book together with the very similar Portsmouth, NH shawl.
