Portsmouth, NH shawl
This shawl combines my favorite things about shawls and scarves: It’s fun to knit, a chance to play with color, and has some glamorous details -- and it’s very easy to wear. Throw it around your neck with a t-shirt or dress it up with hot dress -- it (and you!) will look great either way. It’s named after Portsmouth, NH, a seacoast city with a funky aesthetic and some damn cold weather!
The difficulty is intermediate, and no experience with colorwork is needed. The two-color pattern in the cable section is achieved by slipping stitches -- meaning you only ever knit with one color of yarn at a time. If you’ve ever knit cables before, you’ll be able to make this!
The shawl measures 18” along the inner border, 90” along the outer border, and 12” wide. It uses 450 yards of each of two colors.
This pattern is available in an e-book together with the very similar Portsmouth, NH scarf.
