HOW THE DESIGN WORKS
We knit half of the front, inclusive of band and half of the back at one time. There willbe a center back seam where the two pieces join but no side seams. Part way through each torso piece, we divide it for the armhole, beginning by binding off a few stitches for the underarm. These are near the center but not quite in the center because the band
extends a little bit past the center front point, making the front of the sweater a little wider than the back. While we finish knitting the back, the stitches for the front go into hold. We leave the neck and shoulder stitches for the back in hold while completing the front. Yes, they could be bound off but leaving them for now distributes the weight more
evenly, preventing the front from being subjected to every-increasing weight per stitch as it is decreased.
