Hello, we are Pumpky and Buttercup, the pumpkin and the squash!

We can bust your stash and spice up your Fall and Halloween decorations. Each of us needs only about 14 grams of DK weight yarn, some Fingering weight strands, and about 20 grams of stuffing; or you can simply fill us with some scrap yarn.

We won’t refuse being knit out of brand new yarn though, because we are Pumpky and Buttercup, the poshest squashes around!

We are worked in the round. Our stems are a combination of easy embroidery and a simple crochet chain. The ridges on the surface of our skin are created by slipped stitches.

Techniques: Knitting in the round, embroidery, crochet, modeling/filling with stuffing

The embroidery, a simple Stem Stitch, is explained in a step-by-step photo tutorial.

The crocheted stem, that is created out of the strands that are already there from the embroidery, is also explained in a separate step-by-step photo tutorial.

The process of stuffing and finishing the knitted body of the squashes is explained in the written part of the pattern.
