Positively Diva
POSITIVELY DIVA:
This Cowl, Wrap, Scarf contains elements from the Positive Vibrations Shawl. So, that is where the “Positive” part of the name comes from. The DIVA part is the love of dress up and how something like a feather boa can just change your attitude and “Diva-Up” an outfit. The glorious patterning and colors in the longer versions of this give me the feeling of wearing a Boa and just loving a big fun accessory. The Shortest versions uses larger needles. Others use smaller needles; the longer lengths will stretch and do better with a smaller gauge.
YARN:
Positively Diva is designed to be knit in a Worsted weight yarn. I find SW Merino, generally to be a light worsted. This should also work well in many DK yarns. Small adjustments in needle size for changes / other yarns may be desired!
NEEDLES & GAUGE:
Since this piece is worked LENGTHWISE, you want a round needles with a cable close in length to the size you are making. If you do not have that, your work will be bunched up, but fine.
SHORT uses US 09’s/5.5mm in STOCKING KNIT & the short row pattern, before BLOCKING. 18 sts to 4” and 24 Rows to 4”
OTHERS use US 07’s/4.5mm in STOCKING KNIT & the short row pattern, before BLOCKING. 22 sts to 4” and 28 Rows to 4”
SIZES:
Sizes are impacted by both needle size AND blocking. With these ‘odd-ball’ short rows, a hard block helps to flatten out the shapes. I find it necessary to give this a ‘good & hard’ block. Width measured at widest points.
