Pattern for a Possum crocheted blanket / tapestry. This pattern comes with both a graph and written directions.

All single stitch crochet using the tapestry crochet technique (carrying yarn)

You will need 8 skeins of white (A), 3 skeins of Beige yarn (B) ((more if you decide to carry this color through the entire pattern)), 5 skeins of Tan yarn (C), 5 skeins of Light Brown yarn (D), 6 skeins of Dark Brown yarn (E) & 1 skein of pink yarn (F) ((more if you decide to carry this color through the entire pattern)). This is assuming a medium weight yarn with a skein length of about 350 yards/skein.

I recommend carrying the white (or background color) (A), Tan (C), Light Brown (D) & Dark Brown (E) yarn through the entire pattern. I would only carry The Beige (B) and Pink (F) yarn in the sections it is used/needed.

I recommend a medium weight (worsted weight) yarn with a J sized hook. The tapestry should come out a little over 4 feet wide (when crocheted with a J hook and medium weight yarn). A border can increase the size and give the project a more finished look.

It is all single stitch crochet. In order to make this blanket you will need to know how to carry yarn (there are great Youtube videos that can teach you how to do the Tapestry Crochet Technique. I highly recommend trying a small simple pattern to practice carrying yarn before attempting a larger project. Carrying yarn gets more difficult as you add more colors.

The letters are for different colors. (A = White (or background color), B = Beige, C = Tan, D = Light Brown, E = Dark Brown, F = Pink)
(so the above pattern would have the first row be 150 stitches of color A. 2nd row would have 30 stitches of color A followed by 20 stitches of color B followed by 10 stitches of color A and so on….)
