Welcome to “Postcards from Abroad” our 2023 NYE MKAL, where dreams come true!

This year’s MKAL features a multitude of unusual stitches nestled amongst familiar lace and mesh patterns in an oversized crescent shawl. DId I mention it’s big? It’s big. Really big!

As usual, we’ll be casting on at the stroke of midnight, Dec. 31st, somewhere on planet earth!

Materials:
Yarn:
In total, you will need 4 fingering weight skeins of not less than 400 yds each and 1 mini skein of not less than 133 yds as follows:

CC1 & CC2: these need to be 1 light and 1 dark skein in the same color family of not less than 400 yds each

CC3 & CC4: these also need to be 1 light and 1 dark skein in a different but complimentary color family to CC1 & CC2 of not less than 400 yds each

Pop color: 1 mini skein of at least 133 yds. that will ‘pop’ against your CC2

Other things:
US size 5 circular needles in 16”, 32”, 40” and possibly a 47” or 60” if you like things spread out a bit! We’re going to have a lot of stitches before we’re through!
Removable markers – the ones that look like diaper pins
Dental floss, or whatever you like to use for lifelines!
Beverages – your favorite alcoholic, or non alcoholic drinks in mass quantities!
Snacks – knitting is hard work, you’ll need refueling!
