Posture
I like slouchy hats, but can’t stop fidgeting with them to make the folds lay right. So I decided to remove the uncertainty (that is, circumvent my fidgets) by forcing in one big fold.
The darker color is used for the ribbing and the narrower stripes, while the lighter colored stripes are one row wider. This keeps one color from dominating the other, and also ensures that yarn usage is near-equal between the colors.
Size small is great for kids or wearing far back on adult heads, medium is a universally flattering relaxed fit, and large is perfect for big hair, sensitive scalps, or wearing down to your eyebrows!
I prefer a heavier worsted yarn for this pattern, but a lighter worsted has a nice drape.
(Note that gauge suggested in ribbing is with the smaller needles, while gauge in stockinette is with the larger needles.)
