About This Design
I don’t think anyone would dispute Claude Monet’s expertise when it comes to flowers; he had an incredible understanding of their beauty! I also love flowers, and nothing brings me more joy than a vibrant posy bursting with a kaleidoscope of colours.

Many of my crochet designs use lots of colours, mainly to use leftover bits and bobs from other projects (check out my Lolly Jar Project Design Challenge to see what I mean). However, Posy is different, as it has been designed to let the long-colour gradient yarn do the heavy lifting for your colour palette without you needing lots of leftovers in your stash. Some clever re-winding of your balls of yarn will give you access to a broader range of colours within each ball, making it super easy to build a vibrant and varied colour scheme for your own Posy.

This design uses join-as-you-go motifs, so your Posy will grow very quickly, and you can watch your colour scheme evolve as you go. Because each flower motif is underpinned by multiples of six, the joining pattern for the motifs is a honeycomb pattern formed by diagonal rows of hexagons.

If you love Posy, you will also love Garland, another of my crochet scarf designs that uses long-colour gradient yarns.

Size
The finished dimensions of the scarf are 7 ins/18 cms wide (when measured across the middle width) and 59 ins/150 cms long (when measured along the longest edge) after blocking. However, you can lengthen or shorten the scarf if you wish. Please also note that your finished dimensions will be affected by how hard you block your scarf when it is finished.

Gauge
A single flower hexagon motif measures approximately 2 ins/ 5.5 cms wide using a 3.00 mm (UK size 11) crochet hook.

Yarn
You will need 2 x 100g (approx. 437 yds/400 ms per 100g) of 4-ply/fingering weight yarn in two different (but coordinating) long transition colour gradients that crochet to match the required tension gauge.

Hooks
3.00 mm (UK size 11) crochet hook.

Notions
Tapestry needle.
Blocking materials (optional).
