I used a size US size 6 steel (Eng 3 1/2 , Metric 1.9mm) crochet hook and size 10 cotton crochet thread Aunt Lydia’s White.
Dollar Tree Potholder (2 for a dollar)

Stitches Used: In US terms
Ch/ch-------------------chain
Sl st/sl st---------------slip stitch
Hdc/hdc----------------half double crochet
Dc/dc-------------------double crochet
Tr/tr---------------------treble crochet
Cluster/cluster---------( ch 4, holding back on hook the last loop of
each tr, make 3 tr in sc just made, thread over and draw through all loops on hook.
Knot Stitch , (draw loop on hook up to measure 1/4 inch, thread over and draw through loop on hook, insert hook between 1/4 inch loop and the single strand behind it and draw a loop through, thread over and draw through all loops on hook) The first time I did this stitch the pattern called it a lovers knot.
