Potter Plaid Scarf #3
Ravenclaw

Every October, my husband and I have a Harry Potter movie marathon. This year, we didn’t get to finish the marathon until December, thanks to the arrival of our son. Now that it’s winter and scarves are necessary, I’m celebrating our Harry Potter marathon by completing the last two house scarves.

This crochet scarf pattern is inspired by the house colors of Ravenclaw, although you can choose any 3-color combination. Now before anyone gets mad, you should know that the Ravenclaw colors in the book are blue and bronze, but I’ve added stripes of silver as a nod to the colors in the movie. You’ll crochet the scarf in an open mesh using dc and ch-1 sp. Once the base of the scarf is finished, you’ll weave long strands of yarn through the mesh to create the plaid look. Yes, it takes a little bit of time, but the end result is soft, drape-y, and chic…definitely worth the effort!

This crochet pattern comes with written instructions, a photo tutorial on appropriate weaving and fringe techniques, and a chart to show color placement for the plaid. You can also easily adjust this pattern to create a Harry Potter scarf to fit creatures of all sizes, from Dobby to Hagrid!
