This pattern represents more than just the boy who lived… it represents ALL OF US who have lived.

No matter how you choose to identify yourself, let the Potterhead hat represent all of us including those in the L.G.B.T.Q.I.A.+ community. Just like a young magical orphan boy we all love, remember that you are not alone in this world!

Instead of offering a coupon code for the release of this hat, I will be donating a portion of the proceeds to The Trevor Project. The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning youth.

Donations will run until at least July 31st, 2021 - the birthday of a certain magical wizard boy.

Notes:

  • This hat is worked flat due to the nature of this small amount of colorwork. If you would prefer to knit your hat in the round, I would suggest knitting the whole hat in the main color and using a duplicate stitch afterwards to add the lightning bolt.
  • This hat is knit with lots of slouch! If you would like a less slouchy hat, eliminate an inch or two from the finished length.
  • If you need a reference for the mattress stitch, I would recommend VeryPink Knits tutorial on YouTube!
