Powder Snow Cowl
Think of a clear winter day, skiers carving their traces into fresh powder snow, and frost on the ground … Such was the inspiration behind the textural details of Powder Snow Cowl.
Bold cables and a pentagonal shape with alternating textured and smooth sections make this cowl a fun and interesting knit, ideally suited to show off a variegated yarn. The cowl is worked in the round from the wider bottom edge towards the narrower top edge, with a patterning that quickly becomes intuitive once the five sections of the round are established.
Finished size (approximately)
Top edge: 46 cm/18’’ circumference
Bottom edge: 77.5 cm/30½’’ circumference
Height: 20 cm/7¾’’
Skills required: Knitting and purling in the round, casting on and binding off, working yarn overs, decreasing stitches, and cabling with a cable needle.
The pattern uses one less-common decrease technique which is described in words; for a photo-tutorial please download the separate PDF page that comes as an additional file with your pattern copy.
Charts as well as full written instructions are included.
