Pulsatilla patens, the prairie crocus, is also known as Prairie Smoke – perhaps for the fuzzy halo on the petals and leaves which give it a hazy look or perhaps for the misty clusters of feathery seed pods they produce as they bloom and propagate in the spring. The colour and texture of this downy but sturdy little purple flower are the inspiration for this acrylic and mohair cowl.
