If you’re not from the Canadian prairies, what you may see in the Spring is dirty and brown. But, when you are from the prairie, or you to take a moment to look, you see the return of the robin and his red breast, the blue of the sky reflected in the water of the recently melted creek, the gold of the warm sun bouncing off the rocks, the fresh green buds on the bushes and trees, and the dirt under the nails of the farmer turning last years’ yellow stubble to this years’ rows ready for seed.
Follow those rows and imagine the colours of Spring on the Canadian prairies.

Advanced Intermediate This is not a difficult pattern but is written with the expectation that you have knit at least one or two “vanilla” socks.

The bias of the pattern naturally tightens the fabric. For this reason, I have intentionally increased the number of stitches to compensate. If you are an unusually tight knitter, you may wish to go up a size. The pattern can be adjusted in increments of 8 sts. Additional adjustments will need to be made to allow for this increase while referring to the heel and toe construction, should you decide to increase the stitches.

This is a fun sock to knit. It is naturally intuitive for the advanced knitter but also the directions are easy to follow for a knitter that has knit 2-3 pairs before. Instructions are for DPNs but there are notes for those knitters wishing to use the “magic loop” technique.
