Pattern notes:
This shrug is worked from the top down, beginning with the patterned collar. Short rows are worked to shape the neckline; the yoke is shaped with raglan increases. The body and sleeves are then separated, and the ¾ length sleeves are worked in the round; the body is worked back and forth in stockinette stitch. Stitches are picked up along the fronts and the edging is worked in one piece with the body in garter stitch.
Materials:
Yarn: Approx. 675 (750, 825, 925) (1000, 1100, 1200) yards DK or light worsted weight yarn. Sample shown is Kettle Yarn Co. Beyul DK - 3 (4, 4, 4) (5, 5, 6). Approximately ¾ of the yarn requirements will be needed for short sleeves.
Needles:
US 7 / 4.5 mm circular needle (60cm) plus longer circular needle for magic loop, or dpns in the same size.
US 6 / 4mm circular needle (80cm) & dpns in the same size (if not using magic loop method).
Notions:
4 stitch markers, tapestry needle, waste yarn, 2 x 25 mm buttons, 2 x hook and eye closures.
Sizing:
XS (S, M1, M2) (L, XL, 2XL)
To fit chest size:
31 (34, 37, 40) (43, 46, 49) inches / 78.5 (86.5, 94, 101.5) (109, 117, 124.5) cm
with 0.5 - 3 inches / 1 - 7.5 cm of positive ease at the bust.
Actual chest measurements of sweater:
32.8 (35.8, 39.2, 40.8) (43.8, 47.2, 51.4) inches /
83.3 (90.9, 99.6, 103.6) (111.3, 119.9, 130.6) cm
Gauge:
19 st and 26 rows per 4 inches on larger needles (adjust needle size if necessary to obtain correct gauge).
