I designed this afghan block to honor the brave people of Ukraine. It features a yellow sunflower on a blue background, representing both Ukraine’s national flower and the colors of the Ukrainian flag.

The block shown is 7″ square. It is made with a size H hook and Loops & Threads “Impeccable” yarn in colors Soft Taupe (sunflower center), Butterscotch (sunflower petals) and Clear Blue (background). You can use the weight 4 yarn and colors of your choice; block size may vary slightly depending on the yarn, hook and tension used.

Included is a pattern to crochet the block, followed by instructions for using the blocks to make a crib-sized afghan. With additional yarn, you can adapt these instructions to make any size afghan you like.
