Pre-literate stockings
These stockings take (alas!) just a little more yarn than two 4-ounce skeins of Lamb’s Pride Superwash. My second pair was out of KnitPicks Wool of the Andes, which comes in 2-ounce skeins, and I needed part of a fifth skein to finish two stockings.
These are “fat” stockings, made of heavier yarn of a size more commonly used in sweaters than in socks. They may or may not fit into your ordinary shoes. But they should be nice and warm.
I welcome feedback and notes from people who have successfully made these stockings in larger or smaller sizes -- my beta-test knitters always seem to have different sized legs than I do!
Please let me know also about any places where the directions are still unclear after you have read them carefully several times. (There’s a lot packed into those words.)
