The pattern is written for a standard preemie-size hat. However, you can create hats to fit all sizes of babies by varying the needle size and yarn weight.”

Yarn: Approximately 75 yards washable sportweight yarn (preferably acrylic). Shown in book in Sirdar Snuggly DK (55% acrylic/45% nylon) and GGH Maxima (100% extra-fine superwash merino wool).

Needles:

• 1 set double-pointed needles (dpn) size US 3 (3.25 mm)
• 1 set double-pointed needles (dpn) size US 5 (3.75 mm)
• change needle size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
