Preppy Shawl
This pattern was going to be a pair of socks… But it just didn’t work so it became a shawl! This is such a beautiful lace and cable knit pattern that it practically knits itself.
The design idea came from a pair of leg warmers that I have had since the days of ballet at primary school, they’re a treasured possession from my grandmother and these too were hand knitted. I love how the small cables and the simple yarn over lace plays together to create this really stunning but simple pattern.
This is a top down knit with a simple and easy to memorise lace and cable pattern. It is finished with a ribbed border with great preppy stripes on the contrasting background colour.
This shawl has a wingspan of 165cm and depth of 70 cm after blocking… It really needs a good block to open out the pattern.
Gauge isn’t really important for this shawl however if you want to make it to a similar size as listed above than you will need to swatch by using the simple gauge chart in the pattern.
