This beautiful blanket is colorful and fun, and would be equally at home in a baby’s nursery or thrown over your favorite armchair. The checkerboard layout is easily scalable; simply use fewer squares if you want to create a smaller baby blanket or add more if you want a piece that will cover a king-sized bed.

This blanket uses primarily Tunisian crochet stitches throughout, which creates a fabric that is thin but weighty with a beautiful drape. The finished blanket has an amazingly cozy, luxurious feel. It would make for a wonderful addition to farmhouse décor and is simply perfect for anyone who loves horses – no matter their age!

The original blanket was made using worsted weight, 100% acrylic yarn, but substitutions are discussed in the patterns itself.

The total yardage (~4,420 yards) is divided between 9 different yarn colors. Specific yardage for each color is discussed in the pattern itself, and ranges between 120 - 1,378 yards.

PLEASE BE AWARE that due to the extensive color work involved, this pattern is considered an “ADVANCED LEVEL” CROCHET pattern according to the American Crochet Association guidelines. However, ambitious intermediate level crocheters can successfully complete this project as well. This pattern includes very detailed instructions on Tunisian crochet color work, such that anyone with patience and a desire to learn new crochet skills is encouraged to try their hand at making this blanket!
