Gauge is not important to this finished item. If you do not care for how your stitches are turning out - too loose or too tight, simply adjust your hook size down or up.

For a first exposure to thread crochet, you may wish to use a 1.9 mm hook to get used to the “miniature” experience!

Pattern directions include a chart for recommended hook sizes for various sizes of threads. For #10 thread, hooks sized 1.25 mm to 1.7 mm (or as close to that as possible) are recommended. The different manufacturers are not very standardized with steel hook sizing - so look at the mm size, not the hook number size.

A really short version would look very sweet attached to a barrette!
A longer version would make an elegant choker necklace!
