Prima Pullover (off shoulder)
About
The Prima Pullover is worked top-down in the round, beginning with raglan increases. The sleeves and body are separated, and the body is worked with vertical bust darts and hip shaping. You can add an optional curved front hem using short rows, to add extra length while accentuating your waist. The sleeves are then worked top-down with gradual tapering to the wrist, with an extra-long sleeve and thumbhole option. The folded-down collar is worked last, allowing you to choose the length you prefer. The pattern includes many suggestions on how to customize the fit to your body shape and preference!
Sizes & Fit
The sweater has 9 sizes, from 28” - 62” bust (71 cm - 157.5 cm). It’s designed to be worn with ~11”-20” (28-51 cm) of negative ease; this sounds alarming, but the ribbed fabric is extremely stretchy. All sizes are designed to have the same consistent look of the ribbed fabric, with slightly more negative ease at the bust to accentuate the bust shaping, and slightly less negative ease at the waist and hips for extra comfort and movement. Please see photos for how much extra stretch this sweater still has left over while worn, making it both form-fitting and extremely cozy and comfortable! See photos for full sizing chart and yarn estimates.
Yarn
The sample uses Berroco Vintage, a worsted weight wool-blend yarn (52% Acrylic, 40% Wool, 8% Nylon) - see photos for sizing chart with yarn estimates. If substituting, choose a wool-blend yarn to keep the same amount of stretch; if you substitute for cotton or other non-stretchy plant fiber yarns, the sweater will have a more relaxed fit.
Gauge
With US 7 / 4.5 mm needles, 24 stitches worked in k2, p2 ribbing should be 5” / 12.7 cm after blocking while moderately stretched. This will be ~3” / 7.6cm while unstretched, and ~7” / 18 cm while max stretched. The row gauge is 27 rows in 4” / 10 cm.
Needles & Tools
- US 6 (4.0 mm) circular knitting needles with 18-40” (45-101 cm) cable (used for top of collar)
