Primary Colors Afghan
Difficulty: beginner to intermediate
Approximate size: 56”L x 50” wide.
This afghan was created originally for our new grandson, but when I found out his nursery was decorated in “Winnie the Pooh” colors, I re-made it in different colors (shown in the pattern). It’s a very simple textured pattern of color stripes that look like squares because of the spacing between the squares, divided by solid lines of color and bordered by the same color.
I used Red Heart Classic and Supersaver yarns in this, because I wanted it to be durable (and washable!) as a play blanket on the floor for the baby as he grew.
I used:
1 skein of Red Heart Classic Midnight Blue (a royal blue shade that has been discontinued, but Red Heart has a similar blue in their Supersaver line).
1 skein each of Super Saver Amethyst, Cherry Red, Paddy Green, and Bright Yellow, and Black for the divider and border rows.
I also made this pattern in a soft & fuzzy yarn for a friend to be a lap robe on her couch.
Hook Size: H
ch = chain = 0; DC = Double Crochet = 2; TR = Triple Crochet = 3; sl st = Slip Stitch = .; sp = space
The pattern includes written instructions, some informational photos, and some charting sections to aid in your work. I think this would be a fun pattern for a beginner, as it is simple, yet challenges them to keep on count and pay attention to some details. Color options are limitless! Have some fun with it!
