Primrose Hexagon Blanket (Temperature)
I wrote down and perfected this hexagon pattern for the 2021 Temperature blanket that I am working on. But you can use this hexagon for any kind of project. I first wrote it in 2010 or 2011 and published it on an old blog. Now I have changed it just a bit to accomodate this specific blanket.
Notes for the blanket:
I used Stylecraft Special DK but any favorite yarn of your choice will do! I always use needle size 4.0 mm for this yarn but I recommend to use the size hook you prefer. Some people prefer a more loose fabric and other like to have a more tight fabric for blankets. My favorite is somewhere in between, not too tight and not too loose so the fabric won’t stretch too much when the blanket is used a lot but it still has a nice drape.
I advise to keep a tapestry needle and scissors close so you can weave in end after every hexagon, this saves so much time when it’s almost finished!
Notes about the yarn: I prefer (handdyed) wool but blankets like this one gets so much use in our household and it has to endure so much that I love using the Stylecraft yarn for it. If it gets sticky because of sticky fingers from my youngest or the dog desides to make it its favorite blanket to sleep on you can just throw it in the washer and it is clean and soft again!
You can make as much or as little hexagons as you like. I recommend to weigh a hexagon and calculate how much yarn you need. You could also use this hexagon in a scrap blanket. I am thinking of making one of those myself with handdyed woollen scraps.
Please note: I will keep posting new project photos of my temperature blanket 2021 as it grows.
Have fun, please let me know if you have questions.
See ya!
