Prince Charming
One day this spring, my 8 year old son asked: “Mum, can you knit a jacket for me, one of those with the all-over-pattern which the girls in my class will think is nice?”. Of course, I could.

The body is worked from the bottom and up. The rib is worked flat, then joined for knitting the body in the round up to the armholes. The round begins at center front with Right front. Add 6 sts for a steek in addition to the given stitch number after the rib. These 6 sts are worked in st st and not included in the stitch count in the pattern. Work the sleeves to the armholes and join to the body. Make sure you end on the same round of chart on all parts and consider the gauge not only the stitch count but also the round counts. It is marked in the chart which round you begin on in order to end on the same round as the body. Work raglan and then neck. The last few rows are worked back and forth. When finished, the jacket is steeked at center front, and button bands and neck band are knitted. The colorwork is stranded in stockinette stitch.

The pattern is available in six sizes. Remember to check your gauge against the one given in the pattern. If you have less stitches per 10 cm/4”, the garment will be larger than the given measurements. If you have more stitches per 10 cm/4”, the garment will be smaller than the given measurements. Do also compare the finished bust measurement to a garment that fits you well.

Sjarmørkofta
Sønnen min på 8 år spurte en gang i vår: “Mamma, kan du strikke ei jakke til meg, en sånn med mønster overalt og som jentene i klassen kommer til å synes er fin?” Det er klart jeg kunne.

Vrangborden på bolen strikkes frem og tilbake. En legger opp 6 ekstra masker midt foran og strikker resten av bolen rundt på rundpinne. Ved montering klippes det opp midt foran, til hals og til ermehull. Ermene strikkes hver for seg opp til ermehullet. Deretter settes begge ermene inn på samme rundpinne som bolen, og det felles til raglan opp til skuldrene. De siste pinnene strikkes fram og tilbake på pinnen mens det felles til halsåpning.

Oppskriften kommer i seks størrelser. Husk å sjekke din egen strikkefasthet mot den som er angitt i oppskriften. Får du færre masker per 10 cm, vil plagget bli større enn angitt. Får du flere masker per 10 cm, vil plagget bli mindre enn angitt. Sjekk også beregnet overvidde mot et plagg du vet passer.
