This easy-to-crochet cowl/scarf pattern creates the perfect year-round accessory, using lightweight, soft yarn. Any sport or DK yarn in the color of your choice would be perfect for this project. Even baby yarn would work well! I chose a lightweight cotton/acrylic blend called “Cotton Fair” from Premier Yarns in the color “Lavender”. This accessory is quick and easy to make, and anyone able to chain, single crochet, double crochet, and sew buttons should be able to complete it with no problem!

The buttons in this cowl are purely decorative and non-functional. They are optional. No need to make button holes!

The finished measurements of the cowl pictured are 25 x 5 1/2 inches. The pattern rows follow the length of the scarf, allowing you to make either a traditional scarf OR join it at the end in a loop for an infinity scarf or a cowl like the one pictured. The cowl only requires one skein if you use “Cotton Fair” but plan on at least 2 to make a full length traditional scarf.

All of my patterns are written in American English, using standard US knitting and crochet terms.

I know what you’re thinking--“Can I make a bunch of these cowls and sell them at a craft fair or online?” You certainly can! (In fact, I would be flattered if you did!) I simply ask that you provide anyone who might be interested in the pattern with the name of my store (NoCoKnitWitDesigns) and utilize your own photos if selling online. Additionally, please do not copy this pattern for redistribution or sale, or display it publicly in any way. I worked really, really hard on it!
