ERRATA: on line 3 of the written crown decreases, there is a yarn over missing from the instructions directly after the sk2p. The charted instructions for the decreases are correct.

This is a slouchy hat with a garter stitch band. The garter band has 4 short row sections that make the front of the band wider to the ears and narrow at the back of the neck.
I knit most of my slouchy hats this way!
