Our beautiful princess hood & capelet pattern is the perfect accessory to your outfit. Stay warm and cozy while looking like an elegant princess. This would also be the perfect capelet/cowl for your princess costume! You’ll be able to stay warm and still show off your costume. Spoil your little princess with this adorable capelet/cowl in the colors of her favorite princess. Instructions include options to make this princess hood & capelet out of super bulky yarn or worsted weight yarn. The pattern is very detailed and there are pictures to help along the way. With these detailed instructions, even those with little crochet experience can find success creating their own masterpiece!
PRINCESS HOOD & CAPELET PATTERN DETAILS:
-Sizes: Small (about 3-6 yrs): 28”x 12” , Medium (about 7-12 yrs): 34”x 14” & Large (Teen/Adult): 40”x 16”. You can also make this for a baby if you use a thinner yarn and go down a hook size for 1-2 year olds.
-Skills: Turning chain, single crochet, double crochet, half double crochet, single crochet decrease, slip stitch, skip, cluster stitch (explained in pattern) & basic sewing.
-Written in US Terms

THINGS YOU WILL NEED:
-Hooks: You will need a 5.5 mm (I) hook and 6 mm (J) hook. For the super bulky capelet you will need a 9 mm (M) hook IF YOUR GAUGE MATCHES MINE!
-Yarn: You are welcome to use any brand of yarn as long as you check your gauge before beginning. For a tip on how to save time when checking your gauge, check out my blog post entitled “Becoming a Master Gauge Checker: It’s a stinky job, but somebody’s gotta do it…”
FOR SUPER BULKY BLANKET I used Yarn Bee (or any category 6 yarn). For main color you will need 243 yards for small, 324 yards for medium & 440 yards for large. For the accent color you will need 50 yards for small, 60 yards for medium, & 70 yards for large. Accent color only needed if you choose to add extra color to your border like I did.
FOR WORSTED WEIGHT BLANKET I used Red Heart With Love (or any category 4 yarn). For main color you will need 350 yards for small, 500 yards for medium & 650 yards for large. For the accent color you will need 35 yards for small, 50 yards for medium & 75 yards for large. Accent color only needed if you add the extra color to you border like I did.
BOTH BLANKETS
Red Heart Soft Yarn (or any worsted weight/category 4 yarn). Small amounts of white for all sizes.
Bernat Pipsqueak Yarn (or similar furry yarn). You will need 45 yards for small, 50 yards for medium & 60 yards for large.
Red Heart With Love Metallic (or any category 4). Small amounts of Light Grey (only needed if you opt to make the tiara).
-48- 6 mm round faux pearls (with holes through the center to be threaded). This is an optional addition to the tiara.
-Hook clasps (optional)
-Polyester stuffing (Fiberfil)- small amounts.
-Sewing needle with large eye
-Pins are optional for placing pieces before sewing (I highly recommend this!)
