Princess of North Tiara crown
MATERIALS
YARN- I used a combo of superfine (fingering/baby yarn- for a 2-2.25mm hook, I think that would be similar B1 in US terms) shiny yarn which I intertwined with in some cases fine (sport/baby yarn- for a 3-3.5mm hook, similar to E4 in US terms) and in some cases light worsted (also known as DK- for a 4-4.5mm hook, similar to size 7 in US terms). My aim was to use a hook either 3.25 or 3.5mm so I wanted something that either would be suitable either intertwined or single. If I had a shiny yarn around of a light worsted weight I would have probably done it with a single thread, but I had shiny superfine one and an array of colors of light worsted yarn, and my theme song is always ‘use what you have’, since my stash is huuuuge…
HOOK- 3.25 or 3.5 depending on what is the tightness of your stitch, mine is midd lose…
MEASURING TAPE- measure the size of your child (or yourself- I made one for me too so we can play together, hahaha…) On Pinterest you can find many charts according to a child’s if you are making this as a gift or for a sale…
INSTRUCTIONS
In the photos you will find the drawn charts on the tiara itself.
The instructions will not be aimed at a certain size of a tiara. I will try to explain how you can make it for any size with simple instructions (I hope).
If you find an error or if something is unclear do not hesitate to send me an email about it, through the contact page, always happy to help!
The amount of chains I usually use for my work is tied to the tightness of my stitches and it is roughly double, so for example if I need 1 inch=2.54cm=5 chains (after first row).
IMPORTANT:
- Be careful as the length of the chains will not be the same without the first row, if you are a beginner in crochet this is something you need to always remember that the length of chains made will shorten after the first row, as you now have stitches in these chains.
- The tiara goes on top of head and not around, so measure the circumference where you want tiara to be worn (usually narrower than circumference of the head). Princess of North
It is an assembly of small peaks next to each other and one big peak in the front of the tiara.
