Prisma and Spectra the Two-Headed Unicorn
Prisma and Spectra was (were?) born from a conversation that went something like this:
“Could there be such a thing as a unicorn with two horns?”
“Only if each head only had one horn.”
The white half is named Prisma, and the purple half is named Spectra. They are inseparable friends (teehee!).
When crocheted with worsted weight yarn, this pint-sized mythical beast works up to about 5 inches tall and 7 inches long. She is created using only single crochet, increase, and decrease-- so she’s a relatively easy project for beginning crocheters. She also is a great stash buster as she only requires tiny amounts of each color of yarn.
I suppose you could make a one-headed unicorn from this pattern by ignoring the color changes/second head, but what’s the fun in that? :)
Materials needed:
- Small amounts of white, grey, purple, and yellow weight yarn
- ~24 inches of yarn in several colors for mane (I used Caron Simply Soft yarns I had on hand)
- Polyfil stuffing
- Four safety eyes (I used 10 mm safety eyes), beads, or buttons
- Red Spray paint (for Spectra’s Eyes)
- Yarn needle for assembly
- F/3.75mm crochet hook
- Pipe cleaner or wire for legs (optional)
