Inspired by a swirling and twisting lace pattern, this slouchy hat and fingerless mitts combination begins with a garter stitch band/cuff worked flat holding two strands of yarn together, providing a sturdy structure for the lightweight lace which is worked with a single strand. The lace pattern is worked in the round and results in a spiral of lace around each piece. Both right and left slanting stitch patterns are included for those who wish to make mitts that are mirror images of each other.

This knitting pattern includes written directions, both charts and written charted instructions, and thoughtful details.

Both Hat and Mitts: 205 (230, 265, 300) yd / 185 (215, 240, 275) m

Just Hat: 85 (95, 105, 115) yd / 85 (95, 105, 115) yd

Just Mitts: 120 (140, 165, 190) yd / 110 (130, 150, 170) m

Shown in SweetGeorgia Yarns Tough Love Sock in Amethyst; 425 yd (388 m) per 4 oz (115 g) skein; 80% Superwash Merino Wool, 20% Nylon; 2 skeins

Substitution Notes
Choose a fingering (or sock) yarn in solid / semi-solid / or tonal colourway. A variegated yarn with lots of different colours will fight with the stitch pattern and obscure it.
