The Protection Sigil Hat and Cowl patterns are inspired by Icelandic magical staves (galdrastafir), which are symbols credited with various magical effects. For this design, I created a protection sigil incorporating the number 4 for stability and the Algiz rune (ᛉ) for protection, luck, and victory. The resulting symbol resembles a compass, aligning with the intention of providing protection from all directions, making it a practical and magical pattern for any knitter.
