Skill Level: Beginner
Size: One Size (about 6 x 67 in.)
Pattern: Garter with stockinette
Materials: Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice Yarn:
1 ball each of Navy, Red, and White
Needles: US 8/5.5mm
Gauge: approximately 4.5 sts per inch
(row gauge is not a concern)
Pattern Notes:
- All odd rows (RS – right side) are knit. The even rows (WS – wrong side) are where you will purl to create the embossed stockinette lettering.
- The embossed letters of this pattern are worked following charts. Read RS rows (white) of charts from right to left and WS rows (green) from left to right.
- The letters “A” and “U” must be knit mirror image (horizontally) at the end of the scarf. The letter “S” is already a perfect mirror image of itself, which is why there is only 1 chart for it.
- Each garter stitch ridge equals 2 rows of knitting.
- Each block is made up of 18 ridges (36 rows)
