The aim of this design is a dense, warm, beanie-style hat with a traditional silhouette and an interesting construction method. Dense stitch motifs, multidirectional knitting sections, and lofty-but-substantial Malabrigo Yarn Worsted work together for a hat that’s well-suited to these goals, and fills a functional space in your fall-and-winter wardrobe. It’s a pretty good hat. I like it a lot.

You’ll need to be comfortable working flat and in the round, since this hat is knit flat and in the round. This pattern uses brioche rib. If you’ve knit my designs before, you’ll also notice that the stitches are picked up differently this time.
