Looking back on this pattern 3 years later, I’d make it less tall but longer (22” around) so you can loop it back.** I’m leaving the pattern up as is rather than deleting it, but the fit is awkward and needs adjusting.*

The Philadelphia Saving Fund Society (PSFS) building on the 1200 block of Market Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The building was one of the first International style buildings in America.

The PSFS cowl is a lace design based on the grid the PSFS building uses for it’s windows and floors. It features a darker tower ribbing to mimic the tower that runs up the side of the building.

This cowl is part of a series based on Philadelphia’s rich architectural landscape and the importance of using locally available material. More information on the series is available through the designer’s blog.

Yardage taken is unavailable as the sample was made using local alpaca farm yarn that was only measured in weight. Will add accurate yardage as soon as possible.

Sample used a total of 7 repeats and was able to be pulled over my nose.
