Crochet this colorful and warm afghan for a loved one or yourself. The textured wavy stitch is fun to work up and a delight to look upon. It also works up quickly. The inspiration for this afghan was a photo of a sunset from the Bayou St. John in New Orleans; hence its name. The pattern includes the inspiration photo.

The completed afghan measures 45” x 62” (114 cm x 158 cm) but can be customized to any size preference as it is worked in multiples of 18 + 2 for the foundation chain.

The pattern includes 14 pages of step-by-step instructions with many photos, as well as one page “abbreviated” version for printing. One of the exciting features of this afghan is that the ends do not need to be woven in; they are left and tied together for fringe.
Included in the pattern are other ideas for which the pattern can be used.

The featured blankets were crocheted with two strands of Yarnsmiths Create DK, Stylecraft Special DK, or Scheepjes Colour Crafter. Yarn packs are available at Wool Warehouse online. Any DK (#3 light weight) yarn doubled up will work.

The pattern is written in English with US crochet terms. One of my testers kindly translated the original pattern into Arabic and that pattern is included with the downloads.
