Slippers for children featuring the colourful NZ bird the Pukeko.
This is a versatile pattern! Using double knitting (8 ply) and size 4mm needles gives you a slipper with a 15cm length sole. Using 5 ply wool and 3mm needles gives you a slipper with an 11cm sole.
The slipper has 3 parts, and the pukeko pattern can be knitted into the top flap as you go or can be sewn in afterwards as I have done. I find that you get a much neater finish if it is sewn in.
