This is an easy row-by-row-pattern.

And you can choose your rests for this. For a smaller size use a thinner yarn (about 160 m/50 gr.) and needle no 2.5 or 2.75mm.
Of course you can make them longer.

The pattern is also great to use on socks or scarfs.
