Pumpkin Spice Mittens
The leaves are falling and the temperature is dropping, so it’s time for hot drinks and warm mittens. I love a hot pumpkin spiced beverage this time of year. So, for those of us who believe a bit of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and clove can make the world a better place, I have made a mitten pattern.
I hope you will enjoy this pattern, and if you need any help, please do not hesitate to contact me in my Ravelry group ‘Skeindeer Knits’. It’s the best place for swift support.
Yarn
Navia Duo (100% Faroese wool, Shetland wool and Australian lambswool, 180m / 197yds, 50g).
Alternatives: Rauma Finull, Hillesvåg Ask or Vilje, Tukuwool Fingering, Sandnes Tove, Rauwerk Sport, etc.
50 g of Orange
50 g of Unbleached white
Needles
Gauge-size needles and 0.5 mm below gauge-size needles for working small circumferences in the round.
The sample was made using 3 mm (US 2 ½) and 2.5 mm (US 1 ½) mm needles.
Gauge
34 (32) 30 (28) sts = 10 cm / 4” in stranded colourwork
Sizes
1 (2) 3 (4)
The sample was made in size 3.
Mitten circumference: 19 (20) 21 (23) cm / 7.5 (7.75) 8.50 (9)”
To be worn with 2.5 cm / 1” positive ease
Different sizes are achieved with different gauges by using bigger needles for bigger sizes and smaller needles for smaller sizes.
Notions
3 stitch markers
Waste yarn for thumb stitches
The suggested yarns are categorised as different weights (sport, fingering, 4ply). This is often because these yarns are from countries that don’t use these categories. However, if you hold strands from each yarn together side by side, you’ll notice they look very much the same.
