The Punarinta Shawl is a crescent-shaped shawl, started at the center-top and increased according to a half pi scheme. Using two colors of yarn in two different weights, one heavy fingering/sport weight yarn and one lace weight yarn, bands of solid color are interspersed with colorwork and lace. The border of the shawl is worked in 1-color brioche stitch with minimal increases and decreases to maintain a notched shape. Because of this brioche knit border and the lighter Suri middle section, the shawl drapes like a cape when worn around the shoulders.

Materials
Main color: 200 gr of heavy fingering/sport weight yarn. Sample uses Olann Masham/Suri Alpaca blend, 320 m / 350 yard per 100 gr in colorway Cognac (2 skeins).
Contrast color: 50 gr of lace weight yarn, preferably a fluffy yarn. Sample uses Olann Suri Alpaca, 350 m / 383 yard per 50 gr in colorway Tellus (1 skein).
see test knitters versions for alternative yarns!
Needles: US 6 / 4 mm circular needles, as this will help with the weight of the last rows. I recommend a cable length of over 100 cm / 40”, but this is the knitters’ preference.
Notions: tapestry needle, 2 fixed/ring stitch markers (or more if you want to place stitch markers between lace repeats), 1 locking stitch marker (for brioche decrease)
Notes
For CC yarn: I used up every scrap of my skein. If you have a slightly different gauge or less yardage, be aware that maybe you have to buy a second skein, or shorten the stripe section (see Stripe section for instructions).
Alternative yarns: Some test knitters made the shawl using only fingering weight yarns, have a look at their projects to see the results!
