Notes:
IMPORTANT PLEASE READ
This is not a pattern intended to teach you how to crochet. You should come with the basic knowledge listed above.
I am unable to guarantee assistance to everyone, so I really encourage you to know your skillset and do your best to figure out where you may be differing from the pattern.
This pattern is worked from top to bottom (stem to feet) as one solid piece.
The only required sewing is for the head ridges.
This pattern is worked using the Yarn Under/ Yarn Under, technique, but also works just fine with Yarn Over
It is worked right side out/ crocheting counterclockwise. Your BLOs will end up on the wrong side if you do this inside out. You also will NOT be able to work inside out and then flip it right-side out at the end.
This pattern uses a slst ch1 join. But you can choose not to use it.
o Crafty Intentions has created an incredibly useful video for this technique. I highly recommend checking out her video for it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qqu5N7TCt3U
o You can work it in the round (IE, without the slst ch1) but it may cause spiraling. However, if your work is spiraling drastically with doing the slst ch1 join, then I would encourage you to try without it.
o When you slst ch1 join the rounds, the slst will go through BOTH loops, even though the first stitch of each row through R21 on the head will be worked in the BLO.
o Slst ch1 is not included in stitch counts
Armature is optional. You can make Punkin Guy without it, but you will not be able to bend the doll into different poses.
o Doll should be able to stand on its own without being wired but may need some assistance.
BLO Stitches: The first stitch ONLY in the sets of repeats of stitches on the head will be worked in the back loop only.
o This technique creates a visual sewing guide for the pumpkin head ridges.
o Depending on personal tension, your BLOs may slightly spiral.
 You can correct this spiral while doing the embroidery steps for the head.

Pattern Legend/Stitch guide:
Slst: Slip stitch
ch#: Number of chains
#sc: the number of single crochets done
Sc: single crochet, insert yarn into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops
INC: two single crochets worked into the same stitch
DC INC: Double Crochet Increase
DEC: decrease, one single crochet worked across 2 stitches, insert yarn into first stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, insert hook into next stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through both loops.
( x, x) x #= indicates the section to be repeated
Tr: Treble crochet
BLO sc: Will appear in pattern as BLO-sc; meaning that everything after the hyphen will be worked into either the Back Loop (of the two loops on top, going into the loop furthest from you only).
FLO: No stitches are worked in the Front Loops Only, but you will use the exposed remaining front loops of the BLO-sc to sew the head shape.
Lazy Picot: sc, ch 3, sc into same spot as first sc
# : This indicates the stitch count at the end of the rows. Again, slst ch1 joins are not counted in this.
