20 pages crochet dog pattern includes detailed instructions with plenty of photo references to instruct you on how to crochet toy.
This pattern is suitable for those with beginner crochet skills and have knowledge of magic ring/circle, crocheting in spirals, chain, single crochet, double crochet, single crochet increase and invisible decrease, basic sewing and embroidery techniques.
MATERIALS AND TOOLS:
- Yarn for crocheting in two colors and a crochet hook. 0.75 mm crochet hook or similar in size (the size of the finished work depends on the size of the hook and the thickness of the thread). My dogs are crocheted with 0.75 mm crochet hook. For crocheting I used cotton yarn. For the hat and bow tie, you need yarn of a different color of the same thickness (color of your choice).
- Toy stuffing (fiber filler).
- A needle for assembling with an eye size through which the thread passes. A needle with a thin eye and a thin fishing line or monofilament for sewing on eyes.
- Small black beads for the eyes. For my dogs, I use beads that are about the size of the beads at the ends of the sewing pins.
- If you want to create a dog on the frame, you will need a wire with a diameter of about 0.8 mm (I have galvanized steel wire, you can use copper wire or similar of a similar diameter). You will also need a tool for working with wire - wire cutters, pliers or round-nose pliers.
- Polyurethane based glue or similar, if you make the tail on the frame.
- For the variant of the dog without a frame, you will need two beads or tiny buttons to attach the arms (to keep them mobile). The arms can be simply sewn on motionless.
- Black thread for embroidery of the nose. To keep the nose shiny, you may use 3D acrylic varnish on it.
- Materials for tinting. Tinting can be done with colored pencils, dry pastels, eyeshadow. If you want to brighten up the convex areas of the face and belly, use white acrylic paint.
- To fix the shape of the ears and more securely fix the pencil tinting, you can use a solution of acrylic varnish or PVA glue (half with water or in a smaller proportion, up to 1 to 5). It is desirable to use varnish, but not necessary. Dry tinting can be fixed with hairspray, and the ears can be steamed with an iron.
- . Sew-on clasp for a brooch.
