I love handwriting! One day I had the words „Purled Poem“ in my head and liked the poetic sound of these two English words. This is where the idea to this design came from. As almost always my first thought was that this is not possible: there are no repeats in the chart and everybody will go berserk while knitting (and purling of course). But: hey! Life is too short for doubts. (Erm, it took me 4 years from the draft and first version to this pattern).
The sweater has a classic fit with extra long sleeves.
You should not be afraid of weaving in long floats!

Sizes
I am sorry to say that the poem in this sweater makes it impossible to write the instruction for a broader range of sizes! But when you want to knit a smaller or bigger version you can choose a bigger or smaller needle or ar a thicker or thinner yarn to get another gauge. You can find tips to this in this instruction.
There are five sizes. I suggest a size with positive ease in the bust of 4 to 4.75 in (10 to 12 cm) in the finished garment. The shown sample is worn with 4 in (10 cm) positive ease at the bust.
The sizes 1 to 5 correspond to sizes S (M, L, XL, XXL) and refer to the finished and washed garment.
Bust circumfence, measured under armpits:
Size 1, 39 inch (99cm)
Size 2, 41.5 inch (105cm)
Size 3, 43.75 inch (111cm)
Size 4, 47.25 inch (120cm)
Size 5, 50 inch (127cm)

Yarn and yardage
I recommend a yarn without superwash treatment.
The shown sample is knitted from „Yarnadelics“ by Johgn Arbon Textiles (100 % Falklands Corriedale, 100 g, 364 yard (333 m) yardage. Luckily there are 25 g skeins available.
Main colour (MC) is „The Beautiful Ones“, 300 (350, 400, 450, 500) g
1092 (1274, 1456, 1638, 1820) yards / 999 (1165, 1332, 1498, 1665) meters.
Contrast colour 1 (CC1) „Nobody Knows“, 10 (10, 15, 15, 15) g
37 (37, 55, 55, 55) yards / 33 (33, 50, 50, 50) meters.
CC2 „Les Fleurs“, 10 (10, 15, 15, 15) g
37 (37, 55, 55, 55) yards / 33 (33, 50, 50, 50) meters.
CC3 „Indigo Dust“, 40 (40, 40, 40, 40) g
148 yards / 132 meters for all sizes.

Needles and Gauge
This sweater is knitted with 3.25 mm needles (dpns, circular needles with 16 in / 40 cm, 32 in / 80 cm or one at least 48 in /120 cm circular needle for the magic loop method) for the neckband, ribbing and cuffs.
All the other parts are knitted with 3.75 mm needles (circular needles with 16 in / 40 cm, 32 in /80 cm, 60 in / 150 cm or one at least 60 in / 150 cm circular needle for the magic loop method).
Use a needle that gives the needed gauge of 23 stitches (sts) and 33 rows (rws) on 4 in (10 cm). Make sure that you get this gauge in the colourwork part, too!

Ich liebe Handgeschriebenes! Irgendwann hatte ich die Worte „Purled Poem“ in meinem Kopf und fand schon den Klang dieser beiden englischen Worte poetisch. Daher kam die Idee zu diesem Design. Wie eigentlich immer war mein erster Gedanke, dass es unmöglich ist: der Chart hat keine Wiederholung und Jede:r wird durchdrehen beim Stricken. Aber: Hey! Das Leben ist zu kurz für Zweifel. (Ähm, ich habe 4 Jahre vom ersten Entwurf und Prototypen bis zu dieser Anleitung gebraucht).
Der Sweater hat eine klassische Passform mit extra langen Ärmeln.
Du solltest keine Angst vor dem Einweben langer Fäden haben.

Größen
Es tut mir leid, dass das Gedicht in diesem Sweater es unmöglich macht die Anleitung für eine größere Bandbreite an Größen zu schreiben. Wenn Du kleiner stricken möchtest, kannst Du ein Garn mit einer größeren Anzahl an Maschen auf 10 cm wählen. Möchtest Du größer stricken ist es genau anders herum. In der Anleitung gebe ich für Beides eine Beispielrechnung.
Es gibt fünf Größen. Ich empfehle eine Größe zu wählen, die eine positive Weite von 10 bis 12 cm im Brustumfang hat.
Das gezeigte Modell ist in Größe 2 gestrickt und hat an mir eine positive Weite von 10 cm.
Die Größen 1 bis 5 entsprechen S (M, L, XL, XXL).
Die Maße beziehen sich auf das fertige, gewaschene Strickstück.

Nadeln, Zubehör und Maschenprobe
Dieser Sweater wurde mit 3.25 mm Nadeln (Nadelspiel, Rundstricknadeln 40 und 80 cm oder einer Rundstricknadel von mindestens 120 cm für die Magic Loop Methode) für die Bündchen und 3.75 mm Nadeln (40 cm, 80 cm und 150 cm oder einer Rundstricknadel mit 150 cm für die Magic Loop Methode) für alles andere gestrickt.
Verschiedenfarbige Maschenmarkierer (MM).
Bitte wähle eine Nadel, die diese glatt rechts gestrickte und gewaschene Maschenprobe ergibt:
23 Maschen (M) und 33 Reihen (Rh) = 10 cm mal 10 cm.
Bitte achtet darauf, dass Ihr diese Maschenprobe auch in der mehrfarbigen Passe erhaltet!
