My favourite scarf is reversible, with neat edges, and I won’t say no to a pretty textured lace pattern and the added bonus of using not only one, but two colours I love. So I started to play with a stitch that would give you all that - and here it is: this design cleverly integrates the contrasting colour purl stitches to accentuate the wavy pattern formed with increases and decreases. A stitch that lets you choose your preferred “right side” and strongly reminds me of ripples on the water!

Construction & Techniques
The scarf is worked from both ends towards the middle, with stripes of alternating colours eventually blending into a two-colour mesh lace. The two pieces are joined with Kitchener stitch. I-cord edges hide the unused colour as it is carried along, stabilise the scarf and make for a finished look.

Skills required
Knitting and purling, simple lace stitches including right- and left-leaning decreases, yarn overs and central decreases, and grafting with Kitchener stitch (photo tutorial included).

Yarn & Needles
The pattern, as written, uses equal amounts of DK-weight yarn in two colours. The scarf is worked flat, but a circular needle is required, because you need to be able to slide the stitches from one end of the needle to the other. You’ll also need a spare needle of the same size (or slightly smaller)
