This hat pattern had been in my mind for a little while and I chose to follow some advice I was given by another designer to purl by wrapping the yarn under the needle when working in the round, intentionally twisting the purl stitches in order to create a more defined rib. So off I went, and I can absolutely see where she is coming from. I have not specifically stated to follow this suggestion in the pattern, but have a go and see if you like it.

The name of the hat was suggested by 3 people, including dtinsey, and Jen Giuntoli, who by the way has some ace designs and yarns available, and so Purls and Prayers it was.

So the details:
The hat includes instructions for both Fingering and DK yarn and has been tested for both. It has a mock cable effect created by twisting 2 stitches as you are knitting (swapping the order you work them). All stitches are explained in the pattern.

Fingering weight version
Yarn requirement: 150-200m (160-220yds)
Needles: 3.25mm (US3) & 3.5mm (US4). Adjust as necessary to obtain gauge.
Gauge: lightly blocked stockinette, 26sts = 10cm/4inches

DK weight version
Yarn requirement: 130-175m (140-190yds)
Needles: 3.5mm (US4) & 3.75mm (US5). Adjust as necessary to obtain gauge.
Gauge: lightly blocked stockinette, 22sts = 10cm/4inches

Notions (both sizes): Tapestry needle, stitch marker
